C.A.R. OFFERING FREE CE CLASSES ONLINE Free
continuing education courses are now being offered electronically
to member REALTORS®, C.A.R. announced yesterday at Tech Tuesday
California REALTOR® EXPO 2004. REALTORS® now will pay only
for license renewal exams rather than purchasing both course
materials and the corresponding exams. Market research conducted
earlier this year revealed that REALTORS® were looking for
a convenient option to live lecture or mail-based courses
to fulfill California Dept. of Real Estate (DRE)-mandated
continuing education requirements. "C.A.R.'s innovative approach
to a new continuing education format provides both the flexibility
that our members have demanded as well as the standard of
quality that is our tradition," said C.A.R. President Ann
Pettijohn. "The decision to provide access to online learning
through the C.A.R. Learning Center fits today's profile of
REALTORS® who increasingly use the Internet in daily business
practices." In addition to interactive courses offered in
HTML format on either CD-ROM or online, PDF files of the courses
can be printed in hard copy. Course materials are organized
in complete packages, for either 45-hour license renewal or
12-hour first-time renewals. Costs to C.A.R. members for the
license renewal exams are $49 to complete the 45-hour license
renewal and $32 to complete the 12-hour first-time renewal.
C.A.R. SURVEY TRACKS REALTORS® TECH USE A
new C.A.R. survey tracking current trends in technology use
by REALTORS® revealed that, on average, nearly one in four
real estate transactions is generated from the Internet. The
survey also tracked behavioral changes in REALTORS® use of
technology, as well as adoption rates of hardware, software
and Internet connectivity. "REALTORS® continue to be more
technologically savvy than their counterparts in years past,
and have integrated numerous technological tools into their
day-to-day businesses as well as real estate transactions,"
said C.A.R. President Ann Pettijohn. "Use of the Internet
and Internet marketing has increased, as REALTORS® respond
to meeting the needs of today's tech-savvy homebuyers and
sellers."
REALTOR® JEFF DAVI APPOINTED DRE COMMISSIONER
C.A.R. welcomed Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's appointment
of Jeff Davi to the post of Commissioner of the Dept. of Real
Estate. "C.A.R. has already expressed its congratulations
to the new commissioner, and looks forward to a productive
relationship as Mr. Davi settles into his new role," said
C.A.R. President Ann Pettijohn. "We're pleased that a REALTOR®
is part of Governor Schwarzenegger's team in Sacramento. "C.A.R.
is confident that REALTORS® will find a receptive commissioner
on the housing policy issues that matter most to Californians.
We look forward to working together to develop solutions to
our state's housing affordability crisis," she said. "With
his extensive background in the real estate industry, Mr.
Davi will bring a unique slate of experience to his role as
DRE Commissioner." In addition to being the broker/owner of
A.G. Davi Ltd., in Monterey, Davi most recently served as
president of the Monterey Association of REALTORS®and chairman
of RE InfoLink MLS. He served on the Affordable Housing Steering
